If there’s one thing that many parents dread about back to school, it’s coming up with enough school lunch and snack ideas. Sigh. When my daughter was little, it wasn’t just lunches – I had to make a lunch and two snacks for at school, AND an after school snack. At first, many of us are looking at all those adorable Bento style lunches on Pinterest and making plans for being the most creative lunch-maker ever and then, reality sets in. Life gets busy, lunch making gets stale (see what I did there?), and the kids start complaining about “boring food” or bringing home uneaten lunches day after day.
So, how do we find snack ideas that will satisfy even the pickiest eaters while keeping them budget-friendly and quick and easy to make? Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered with 20 great ideas!:
2. Parmesan Garlic Zucchini Chips
5. Ernie and Bert Made of Fruit
10. PB and J Spiders
11. Healthy Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge
15. Peanut Butter Cheerios Bars
16. Peanut Butter “Sushi” Rolls
17. No Bake Oatmeal Apple Pecan Cookies
19. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Apple Snack
When my daughter was little, her favourite snack was for me to cut up an apple into wedges. She’d then dip it into peanut butter (if the peanut butter was too thick for dipping, I’d stir in a tiny bit of honey) and then into wheat germ. Simple, delicious, and full of nutrients!
