ABC’s The Taste: Seductive Foods

Do you watch The Taste on ABC?  I’m pretty much a food television junkie.  Top Chef, Chopped, Iron Chef America, and now The Taste are regular TV indulgences of mine.  Last night on The Taste, the theme of the challenges was “seductive foods”.  At one point, the chef judges picked 5 food items that they considered “seductive” and their teams had to make a tasting spoon prominently featuring at least one of the 5.  Choices included foods like: figs, caviar, champagne, oysters, lobster, prosciutto, sea salt, and pancetta.  It got me thinking….what 5 foods would I choose as being the most seductive? And before all of your minds go to the gutter, when I’m thinking of seductive foods, I’m actually thinking of foods that seduce my taste buds.  There are lots of foods that taste good but to me, seductive foods are the ones that take it to the next level.  They have something just a little bit extra special about them – I guess they’re like candy and junk food to most kids – they’re the foods that seem like celebratory treats to me.

My choices are: pate foie gras, figs, strawberries (if I wasn’t allergic to them…sigh), duck confit, Fumee de Sel – Chardonnay Oak Smoked Fleur De Sel.  Since I can’t really include strawberries, I’ll add in black garlic instead.

What about you?  What would be on your list of 5 seductive foods?

Isn’t it just divine? I had a duck confit pizza in Toronto that was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life!

I love these shows, but hate the price tag sometimes when I try to create what they did. Blackberry Jam, Marscapone, Brie, A good crusty bread, the list could go on for seductive foods!

I haven’t seen the Taste yet but my mom really likes it. What a neat challenge. I love creme brulee, it’s my favorite dessert ever!
