Last night, I snuggled into my cozy holiday bed with my copy of A Christmas Carol and placed a mug of hot cocoa and 2 shortbread cookies on my side table. The lights on the small tree at the foot of my bed flickered and the Christmas music played softly on the holiday Yule log channel on TV. Before I began to read, I took a look around the room and soaked it all in. For a moment, I felt like I was tucked away in a cabin in the woods, snow gently falling outside my window. It was the perfect peaceful winter holiday moment.
This may sound silly but whenever I’ve seen one of those pictures in a magazine or catalogue of a beautiful festive holiday bed, I’ve always thought “One day…..”. I’ve been wanting one of those picture perfect comfy cozy holiday beds since I was a little girl but my mom thought it was a silly waste of money to have bedding that you only use once a year. Still, it was something that fit into that stereotypical Norman Rockwell Christmas image in my mind.
Then last week I went shopping at my favourite store, Target. I was looking for some flannel sheets. Lately, I’ve been finding myself waking up in the middle of the night with a chill so I thought the sheets would help. Imagine my delight when I found these beautiful seasonal flannel sheet sets. They satisfy my desire for a lovely holiday bed but at the same time they’re not “in your face” Christmas so I can use them all through the winter season! One set is white with delicate blue snowflakes and the other is a gorgeous red plaid. Together with the red fleece blanket I also found at Target and the white duvet cover and pillow sham I already own and the little red cardinal pillow I received as a gift and it’s close to perfection.
Best of all, not only did I find these items at great low Target prices BUT it seemed like nearly everything in the store was on sale or on clearance. Each set of queen size sheets (flat, fitted, and two pillowcases) was only $25 and the king size fleece blanket (oh if only you could feel how incredibly soft this blanket is!) was $35. For under $100, thanks to Target, I finally had my Norman Rockwell Christmas dream fulfilled.
What about you? What would be a perfect peaceful holiday moment for you?
Disclosure – Thanks to Target for helping to make my childhood holiday dream come true. #SeasonsTweetings

You are truly fortunate with your shopping. When I felt the chilly need of flannel sheets a few years ago all they had were those with reindeer calling hohoho. They may not be as perfect as yours but they are still warm and I close the bedroom door so they are mine alone.
