Creativ Festival (formerly the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival) has been operating since 1988.
It happens twice a year (April and October) in the Toronto area and is Canada’s largest consumer show covering such areas as knitting, quilting, sewing, beading, paper arts, and diy decorating.
There are demonstrations of the latest in crafting materials, Make n Takes, seminars, and of course, the marketplace for all your craft purchase needs. I spent part of this weekend there taking it all in and here are some of the highlights for me:
As mentioned in my Fab Find Friday post, Local King Rubber Stamps was a bit hit, not just with me but many others as well. The booth was buzzing with activity and people were lined up to get their goodies.
It’s not difficult to figure out why the booth was so busy. Lisa Yang, the stamp designer, was very personable, talented, and great at teaching us new techniques for using rubber stamps.
Once people saw how gorgeous, yet simple Lisa’s techniques were and what lovely effects you could get with her stamps, they were definitely ready to buy. An excellent show special only helped seal the deal!
Another popular booth and activity was Zentangles with Susan Stortini. I was actually quite surprised to hear the number of people who had never heard of it before and once they saw what it was, they were hooked!
Look at just how beautiful Susan’s work is!
Susan’s Make n Take classes were incredibly popular. People lined up for an hour and a half just to get tickets for it and it “sold out” quickly.
Here is the super cute card I made at the Scrapbook and Cards Today Make n Take!
All in all it was a great time filled with fun, laughter, and creativity. My next post will be about some things I’ve learned about attending shows such as this – hints and tips for attendees!
I leave you now with this picture – I’m sorry it’s so fuzzy but it’s the best I could do while still being “subtle” about taking it:
This is a man lying on the floor reading a newspaper waiting for his wife while she was in CreativFestival. There was actually a whole line of them along this wall, some sleeping, some reading, but all waiting patiently!
